Academic Extension
Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC)
Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) is a Department of Education initiative which provides enrichment and extension opportunities for exceptionally able primary school students in Years 5 and 6 who are identified as gifted and talented.
Students are tested in Year 4 and are identified as being suited to participate in the PEAC program.
PEAC programs encourage:
- social interaction with other gifted and talented children
- intellectual rigor and challenges
- interaction with practising experts
- development of higher order process skills and in-depth investigation skills
- open-ended activities which encourage choice and negotiation
- self/peer evaluation and reflection of performance.
Students from Mosman Park Primary School are regularly selected to participate in the PEAC program. Further information can be found on the Department of Education's website.
