Harmony Day

On Thursday March 17 we celebrated Harmony Day as a school.

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate our unique community and reflect on the many social,  cultural and economic benefits that diversity brings to every Western Australian.

Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Australians can choose to wear something orange during Harmony Week to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. On Thursday (17th March), students could wear orange, a national costume or their 2021 NAIDOC t-shirt to celebrate First Nations people of Australia. This was a fundraiser for our Story Dogs program with a gold coin donation requested. Students will be engaged in a range of activities in their classrooms during the week to celebrate cultural diversity. Unfortunately our planned incursion of 'Taiko on' Japanese drumming had to be postponed due to Covid protocols.
